Thank you for joining us for part two of our virtual tour, which we have released in lieu of our attendance at numerous planned live events this year. If you haven’t already, check out part one if you’d like to familiarise yourself with our software and IVI solutions.
So, let’s jump straight in.
In this part of the tour we invite you to experience the future of in-vehicle infotainment by taking a (virtual) seat in our transportation pod. The pod is our way of setting the scene for the in-vehicle experience of the next decade. We cover off drive, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous modes to see what use cases each scenario opens to drivers and passengers. Off we go…
“From the provision of music and maps, to personalised movies and media to multiple screens, from a variety of devices.”
More on the demo
All the different screens are powered by a single Linux machine, which manages the stored content and applications from different devices like phones and tablets.
As per the video above, the use-cases unlocked are dependent on the driving state, if you need to be focused on the road then you can enhance the experience by mirroring your mobile apps like navigation and music. If semi-autonomous mode is engaged, then you could join a web-conference and use productivity software from a Windows tablet on a bigger screen. Or in the instance when there is no driving involved, for example in public transportation, you can enjoy entertainment like movies or playing mobile games.
These serve as examples of what is possible, pending the relevant safety parameters set by local governments, regulatory bodies and automotive OEMs. We debate this at some length in our recent on-demand webinar Vehicle infotainment. What does the future hold? which you might find worth a listen.
Whilst these scenarios are intentionally futuristic, everything you saw in the above demo is powered by our Cobalt suite of technologies, already licensed in tens of millions of vehicles globally.
Let’s talk about you
Rest assured that even though we might not have been able to meet face to face as planned, there is a great deal of innovation happening to support our auto OEMs, Tier 1s and your vehicles of the near future. If you would like discuss your IVI project in more detail then please get in touch, we’d love to learn more.
